How it started
We left our routines behind.
In 2018 we packed our bags, left our jobs and routines in Switzerland, and set off on a trip around the world. For almost a year we lived out of backpacks, travelling through 23 countries on countless buses, flights and night trains.
This blog began as a way to keep family and friends in the loop. Today it is our travel diary and, we hope, a little inspiration for anyone dreaming of their own big trip.
Ueli
The planner with too many browser tabs.
Swiss born and raised, based in Zürich and working in finance. On the road, I’m usually the planner looking at flight deals, airline status levels and the next connection.
Southeast Asia, especially Thailand, remains my favourite part of the world. The South Pacific and the atolls of French Polynesia also felt like a dream come true. When I’m not travelling, you’ll find me on the golf course, on my motorcycle, underwater with a dive tank or at a good music festival.
Alisha
The one who finds what we would otherwise miss.
Raised in Canada, an avid reader and every bit as much of a planner. On our trips, I find the best activities and food spots, and I’m usually the one talking with the locals.
South America remains my favourite part of the journey, helped by being our Spanish speaker.
